Detailed Description

The VAS-3088 is a vertically polarized, omni-directional VHF vehicular whip antenna system designed to meet every rigorous environmental demand of military use. It is intended for a wide range of military vehicles, to be used with any radio that operates within its 30-88 MHz frequency range.

Designed for a maximum of 200W of CW input power, the VAS-3088 exhibits a VSWR of 2.5:1 or better across the band without the need of external tuners or adjustment. Maximum power is in the horizontal direction. Typical gain is +1.0 dBi (nominal).

The VAS-3088 whip comes in two (2) pieces, easily threading together, to create a complete antenna system with integral matching networks, all housed within the fiberglass envelopes. The lower whip has an integral base support spring attached to the aluminum mounting flange that uses a standard vehicular mount. An eye bolt is incorporated into the tip of the upper whip for easy tie-down.

EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) and high voltage isolation are also incorporated into the VAS-3088. The VAS-3088 provides isolation to 20 kV RMS (MIL-STD-202), providing safety to personnel and equipment in the case of accidental contact with overhead power lines. Lightning strike protection meets the requirements of MIL-STD-464.
