Detailed Description

The Valcom model VBBA2-30-18 is an 18 foot 6 inch broadband HF tactical whip antenna. The VBBA2-30-18 operates in the 5 MHz to 30 MHz range with a maximum VSWR of 2.25:1. The VBBA2-30-18 was designed to match the environmental and physical characteristics of Valcom's highly successful antenna model VBBA2-30 .

The VBBA2-30-18 is designed to match the antenna's full operating frequency band to a 50 ohm line without the need for external tuning devices or by having a purely resistive element in or at the base of the antenna. This translates to a higher gain and lower VSWR across the band.

The VBBA2-30-18 is a self-supporting whip antenna, comprised of a single-piece aluminum radiating element and an integral fibreglass mounting base and insulator. The mounting base utilizes the same base mounting pattern as currently used by the AS-3770B_U tunable HF shipboard antenna system.
